Blogging for Long Term Profits

Blogging is one of the quickest ways to make a profit online. The goal of making money online is not far beyond the reach of someone with average intelligence, a willingness to learn and apply what they have learned on a regular basis. You only need a basic understanding of blogging technology to be up and running in less than an hour. However, very few people manage to achieve the profits they want from their blog. Most people who attempt to make money with their blogs do not succeed for one or more of the following reasons:

  • Unrealistic expectations of how fast and how much their blog will be noticed
  • No understanding of their target reader and what they value in a blog
  • A lack of promotion of their blog and the content it contains
  • Quiting too early during the nurturing phase of the blog
  • Not using a range of monitising methods
  • Loosing interest in the blog subject and topics too early
  • Focusing on the “money” before adequate effort has been invested
  • Running out of topics to blog about
  • Feeling overwhelmed by the technology used for blogging
  • Not planning to take small and achievable steps to succeed
  • Listening to negative comments about blogging from trusted friends and family

If you want to turn a profit as a blogger, the key to success is to design a realistic and achievable plan and stick with it. To succeed at making blogging profit, the main thing that you will focus on is to build a good size readership base. The more readers you have, the more blog traffic you will have to your blog. Advertisers will pay you for advertising space on your blog based on the number of readers you have and the number of monthly visitors to you blog. The more readers and visitors you have coming to your blog, the greater your profits. Cultivating regular visitors and turning them into loyal readers isn’t an easy task.

Having a great idea or a wonderful writing style is no longer enough to get your blog noticed. You need to be able to market your blog effectively. Too many bloggers spend all of their time writing posts and almost no time marketing their blog. To be certain, posting new content as often as you can is a great way to keep your blog high on blogrolls and high in blog search engines. Once your readers know that you update frequently and provide them with quality content they want, they will return to your site on a regular basis. But, it does not matter how often you update your blog if nobody is reading your page, so don’t skimp on the time that you need to spend drawing visitors to your site. To make your blogging profitable, try balancing the time spent posting with the time to acquire new visitors by setting up link exchanges with other bloggers, making contacts in the blog community, and following traffic driving strategies.

Of course, even if you are a marketing genius or have a really great idea for a blog, success is not going to happen overnight. Building the kind of readership that blogging for profit requires takes time, and in all likelihood it will be at least several months before you are able to turn much of a profit. Try to stay committed to your blogging during this initial critical period.

To stay motivated, set small and quick goals and then reward yourself for sticking with your plan. Read other blogs from successful bloggers to stay motivated and inspired.
